Recognizing Professional Excellence:
August 10, 2010 in General Construction, Steel Stud Contractor
Since the rough framing is completed the subcontractor responsible for the interior non-bearing framing system (steel studs) can begin his work. His work is very similar to the rough carpenters work. He must place the interior walls in the locations indicated on the architectural floor plan. He must also place any soffits and flat ceilings that are indicated on the reflected ceiling plan. The flat ceilings that he must place are the ones that are to receive gypsum board with a painted finish.
This contractor must verify that all of the walls are true and plumb, and he must make sure all of the rough openings for doors meet the requirements for the finished products to be placed later by other contractors. In the interim, the electrical and plumbing sub-contractors must return to do some additional work before this contractor can finish his work.
After he has placed all of the interior walls, he must wait for the roof to be loaded with roofing and equipment before he can complete his task of connecting the walls and soffits to the structure.
This unsung heroes work will be covered by the finishes for this project. Just like many other parts of the project, the users will not see how this contractor’s contribution is vital for this project.
