Now it is time for the framer (rough carpentry) to begin his work. He will have to build the walls plumb and true. Frame the door and window openings, place ledgers and beams, hang TJI’s, sheath the roof and place trusses. For this project he will also have to stand the pre-engineered wood trusses for the mansard roof system.
Under normal circumstances, this contractor will also hang doors and windows.
This contractor will also be very sensitive to the application of anchors and straps. He must adhere to the structural drawings for the requirements of the shear walls and the roof sheathing system.
For this project, the contractor was required to warp the roof framing system to achieve positive drainage for the low slope roof to the roof and overflow drains.
This unsung heroes work will be covered by the finishes for this project. Just like many other parts of the project, the users will not see how this contractors contribution is vital for this project.
